Westwood Park Community Power Potluck

Join Street Watch LA and residents of Westwood Park for a potluck party for the community - housed and unhoused alike! Let's celebrate what public parks are all about. Bring snacks to share, instruments to jam with, and any other park-friendly activities!⁣

Like at Echo Park Lake, Westwood Park residents have recently become the target of frequent sweeps and police harassment. Many residents, including some who are elderly and disabled, have received tickets for sleeping in the park at night, forcing them to relocate to a nearby sidewalk that has been the target of two sweeps within the past week alone.

Together, we must stand up for the rights of our neighbors to stay at the park, where they've built a supportive community and they have access to toilets and other necessary public health services. People have a right to rest in public space, especially when the city has failed to provide any viable alternatives in the area.
