Finance & Fundraising Committee: Goals and Call for Interested Members

To support our ambitious political goals and fulfill our mandate to maintain and grow chapter funds as outlined in our Organizational Priorities, the DSA-LA Steering Committee is opening up a call for interested members to formally join a Finance & Fundraising Committee through the end of 2018.

Goals of the Finance & Fundraising Committee

The Finance & Fundraising Committee will work closely with the DSA-LA Treasurer with the oversight of the Steering Committee to accomplish the following goals by the end of 2018:

  • Organize and promote 2 chapter-wide fundraisers and formalize accompanying guidelines for chapter-wide fundraising events to guide this work going forward
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive merchandise fundraising plan (t-shirts, pins, totes, etc.), with clear financial benchmarks and tracking mechanisms
  • Research and compile a list of recommended vendors (e.g. local union printers, caterer, event spaces and locations)
  • Research and outreach to individual member donors
  • Research and prepare a report on 1) options for general liability insurance given DSA-LA’s legal status, and 2) availability and rental fees linked to public spaces (libraries, community centers, etc.) with and without insurance
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system for DSA-LA Committee/Working Group expenditures and disbursements
  • Campaign finance compliance
  • Support ongoing membership-renewal efforts
