Los Angeles has a rich history of people coming together on a super-local basis to fight for progress and to defend human rights. That inspiring energy has continued through to this present day, but is it enough to build lasting change?

Wednesday, June 3rd, 6:00pm on Facebook Live — Join organizers from Democratic Socialists of America – Los Angeles and member and City Council candidate Nithya Raman (Nithya for the City) for an educational and motivating look at the power (and limits) of neighborhood organizing.

Please RSVP and invite everyone you know!

Planned Content:

1. Los Angeles, A Brief History of Organizing – A presentation from DSA-LA’s Political Education committee will examine key moments in the history of LA organizing along with lessons learned.

2. Nithya Raman: The Power of Neighborhood Organizing – Nithya’s journey has taken her from neighborhood homelessness organizing to a neck and neck race for a key seat on Los Angeles City Council. Listen to her inspiring story about what can happen when people come together to demand change.

3. Case Study: How to Organize Your Building – DSA-LA’s Housing and Homelessness Committee will teach some immediately applicable skills about how to begin organizing with your own neighbors; discussing why this is more important now than ever.

4. What Will It Take? – We’ll pull these threads together and share DSA’s people-powered vision of organizing for lasting change and let you know how you can be a part of the movement!

You don’t need to consider yourself a socialist to join us, or to live in Los Angeles city – all who want to make the world a better a better place are welcome!
